Grumble N Autumnn: Winter Veil Guide 2008

Time to spread the Winter Veil Cheer! Winter Veil is Warcraft's version of Christmas. On Christmas presents will spawn under the Christmas Trees in Ironforge and Orgrimmar. These spawn like quest items and there is a couple for everyone so there is no need to camp the tree to get them. Some presents are level restricted but every toon will get at least a couple items.

The dates of Winter Veil are:

2008: December 15 - January 2

If you complete all of the Achievements for Winter Veil you will get the title of Merry Maker. Let's go through the achievements for this holiday.

A Frosty Shake

During the Feast of Winter Veil, use your Winter Veil Disguise kit to become a snowman and then dance with another snowman in Dalaran.

You get the Winter Veil Disguise Kit in the mail one day after you finish the quest Stolen Winter Veil Treats. You need one snowball to use this item but you can buy them from any Winter Veil vendor. You cannot move while a snowman but you can /dance.

Crashin' & Thrashin'

Gain 25 crashes with your Crashin' Thrashin' Racer during the Feast of Winter Veil.

You get a Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller under the Christmas Tree.

Fa-la-la-la-la Ogri'la

Complete the Bomb Them Again! quest while mounted on a flying reindeer during the Feast of Winter Veil.

It is unknown at this time how you get the flying reindeer mounts. In the past you used Preserved Holly to change your normal mount into one but there may be actual mounts dropped this year. Unknown if they are to keep or on a timer like Hallow's End brooms.

He Knows If You've Been Naughty

Open one of the presents underneath the Winter Veil tree once they are available.

Let It Snow

During the Feast of Winter Veil, use a Handful of Snowflakes on each of the race/class combinations listed below.
Orc Death Knight
Tauren Shaman
Undead Rogue
Gnome Mage
Blood Elf Warlock
Human Warrior
Night Elf Druid
Troll Hunter
Dwarf Paladin
Draenei Priest

You get Snowflakes when you /kiss Winter Revelers who can be found in Inns.

On Metzen!

Save Metzen the Reindeer. He can be found at 68,34 in Searing Gorge.

Scrooge Horde / Alliance

Throw a snowball at Cairne Bloodhoof or King Magni Bronzebeard. You can get snowballs from Winterveil Vendors or select snow piles.

Simply Abominable

Complete the quest to retrieve the stolen Smokywood Pastures' stolen treats and receive a Smokywood Pastures' Thank You.

The Winter Veil Gourmet

During the Feast of Winter Veil, use your culinary expertise to produce a Gingerbread Cookie , Hot Apple Cider, and Egg Nog.

These recipes are bought from the Winter Veil Vendor. You will need small eggs to make these. The AH will probably be full of 5 for 25G listings. Go to any low level bird or moonkin for eggs.

With a Little Helper from My Friends

Earn 50 honorable kills as a Little Helper from the Winter Wondervolt machine.

This machine is outside Orgimmar and Ironforge. This turns you into a Little Helper. You have to have this buff on to get the achievement. Do not shapeshift while a Helper or you will lose the buff.

Tis' The Season
During the Feast of Winter Veil, wear 3 pieces of winter clothing and eat Graccu's Mince Meat Fruitcake.

The Winter Hats can drop from a variety of mobs, both in and outside of instances, but below are the highest drop rates.

Red Winter Hat / Green Winter Hat - These have a 100% drop rate on WotLK bosses. There is a chance for them to drop off of random humanoid mobs. You can tell if they have it because they will be dressed up in Christmas garb.

Red Clothes / Green Clothes - Tailor-crafted

Boots - Leatherworker-crafted

These patterns are mailed to people with those skills.
